An update that matters for 2026: Qatar suspended visa on arrival for Pakistani nationals in late March 2026. The free 30-day counter stamp that made Doha the green passport's easiest trip is gone. Pakistani travellers now need a Hayya e-visa approved through Qatar's official platform before travel, and airlines verify it at check-in before you even board.
How the Hayya E-Visa Works
The application runs through the official Hayya platform: passport details, a photo, and accommodation information for your stay, submitted online ahead of travel. Processing times vary, so file well before your flight and carry the printed approval with you. The old counter process no longer exists for Pakistani passports, so treat the e-visa as the first booking of the trip, not an afterthought.
The Four Checks That Still Apply at Doha Immigration
- Passport valid for at least 6 months and a confirmed return ticket
- Hotel booking for your stay (or proof of address with family/friends)
- Proof of funds: a credit card or cash to cover your stay
- A plausible purpose of visit stated clearly at the counter
Stays, Extensions, and Work
Approved tourist stays generally run up to 30 days, with extensions possible through Qatar's Ministry of Interior platform. What you cannot do is work. Employment needs a proper work visa sponsored by a Qatari employer, and working on a visit entry invites fines and bans. For family visits longer than the tourist window, a family visit visa sponsored by a resident relative is the cleaner route.
Doha is still the region's best stopover city. Qatar's stopover program lets you break a Europe flight into a multi-day Doha visit, but it now rides on the same pre-approved Hayya e-visa, so build the stopover into the application instead of hoping at the counter. Ask us to check your routing before booking any ticket east or west.
Doha did not get harder. It moved from the counter to the application, and that part is our job.

Doha Without the Counter Gamble
The arrival-visa era ended in March 2026, so Qatar now rewards travellers who file properly: a Hayya e-visa approved before you fly, flights and hotels aligned with it, and entry documents printed and ready. Send us your dates; our desk arranges Doha trips every week.
